Tools to obtain an overall picture quickly

Navigating the text

The text is divided into chapters which cover the main topics of the article. The first chapter of every article is the Table of Contents which is automatic, so it's updated whenever somebody edited the article. You can use the titles of the Table of Contents as links to the chapters. Reading the contents also gives you a brief picture about the main topics and the structure of the article.

"Just the essence" function

You can find the "Display Settings" in the top-left corner of the page window. Click on it and set the contents that you would like to see on the page.

  • "Just the essence": shows only the headings and illustrations. You can get a brief overview about the whole article quickly.
  • "Text" shows the full text and all the items that are checked. You can turn off the multimedia contents, internet links and examples too as well. For a detailed reading this view is preferable.

Expanding/collapsing chapters

With the "+" and "-" signs next to the chapter title you can make visible or invisible the contents of the chapter. This will help you to concentrate more on the chapters of interest.

View articles as slideshows

Most of the articles are also viewable as a slideshow. If this function is available, a proper link at the top of the article will lead you to the slideshow. The slides are not different, than the article itself: every slide has the text of one chapter in the article.

In slideshow view the control buttons pops up at the right-bottom side of the window after moving there the cursor.

  • moving among slides: with the arrows in the pop up window or Space (forward) and PageUp (backward) or arrow buttons on the keyboard.
  • exit from slideshow view: with the "Back button" of your browser
